About Tear
Tear sits near the place where the Erinin reaches the Sea of Storms through the marshy Fingers of the Dragon. Above the city stands the Stone of Tear, a huge fortress made with the One Power after the Breaking. The nation of Tear is ruled by its High Lords and stretches north to Haddon Mirk and the Plains of Maredo.
Inside the Stone lies Callandor, the Sword That Is Not a Sword, which prophecy says only the Dragon Reborn can take. Rand, Moiraine and the others converge on Tear at the climax of The Dragon Reborn.
Spoiler note: this guide mentions events up to The Dragon Reborn.
