Far Madding

Far Madding stands on an island in a lake south of Andor, near the borders of Murandy and Illian. It is governed by a council of women led by the First Counsel, and long ago it was known as Aren Mador, a city remembered for its fear of men who could channel.

The city is protected by an ancient ter'angreal called the Guardian, which prevents anyone within its reach from touching the True Source. That makes it a dangerous place for any channeler, and it matters a great deal in Crossroads of Twilight and Knife of Dreams.
