Tar Valon

The island city of the Aes Sedai on the River Erinin, home of the White Tower.

Where is Tar Valon?

Tar Valon lies north-east of Dragonmount, about 250 miles (400 km) away as the crow flies.

About Tar Valon

Tar Valon is built on an island in the Erinin, connected to both banks by great bridges, with Dragonmount rising on the western shore. It was shaped with the One Power and Ogier stonework, and the White Tower at its heart is the tallest building in the Westlands.

The city is the seat of the Amyrlin Seat and the training ground for novices and Accepted. Egwene, Nynaeve and Elayne travel here in The Great Hunt to begin their training, and the politics of the White Tower shape much of the series from then on.

Spoiler note: this guide mentions events up to The Great Hunt.
