Altara
A southern kingdom on the Sea of Storms whose queen holds little power outside Ebou Dar.
Where is Altara?
Altara lies north-east of Ebou Dar, about 400 miles (640 km) away as the crow flies.
About Altara
Altara stretches along the Sea of Storms from the borders of Tarabon and Amadicia east toward Murandy and Illian. Its queen rules from the Tarasin Palace in Ebou Dar, but the nobles of the countryside largely do as they please.
Altara becomes central in the middle books: the rebel Aes Sedai gather at Salidar, and Mat, Elayne and Nynaeve spend much of A Crown of Swords in Ebou Dar.
Spoiler note: this guide mentions events up to The Fires of Heaven.
